The turquoise-sea archipelago might be what catches your eye, but it’s the durian that will catch your nose and your heart!
This Durian Island Tour explores the far east of Thailand, an area that was once owned by the ancient Cambodian Khmer Empire, then by the French, then by Cambodia again, and now it’s part of Thailand.
You better be a durian snob, or want to be a durian snob, to handle this easy-going tour. We’ll start in the undeveloped farmlands and waterfalls that rim the eastern side of Koh Chang Island, where the smooth sea laps our private red-sand beach and the fresh tree-dropped Chanee durians are like whipped menthol cream.
Then we’ll take a ferry to the mainland and taste the durian farms of the Cardamom Mountain Range, which separates Thailand from Cambodia.
Finally, we’ll head right into Thailand’s Durian Heart: Chanthaburi. Here we’ll flavor our durian experience with traditional Thai dishes using durian and go to some of the oldest farms with the most variety of durian.
This is an early-season tour, meaning that many durian varieties will be available now that will not be available during the later tour in May.

We’re not minimalists — we’re essentialists. We like natural surroundings and gorgeous views, but we like the Western comforts too. Think upscale-rustic.

Who We Are
Parisa and Lindsay have been leading durian tours in Thailand together since 2016. Parisa is a local Thai foodie from Chanthaburi who LOVES durian. Lindsay is the author of this crazy durian blog, Year of the Durian. We met in 2013 at a durian farm (duh) and have been working together ever since on various food and durian related projects.
This tour is a compilation of our favorite places to eat durian in Thailand.
