$10 Off! D24 XO Durian 400g

This old-tree D24 XO brings all the homey decadence of eating a very thick-textured, cream-cheesy cookie dough with a splash of alcohol. It has one of the most "classic" durian flavors, a satisfyingly complex brown-sugar sweetness combined with a lingering bitterness of dark chocolate covered coffee beans that combines perfeclty to define when durian just tastes like good durian.

In stock

$6 Off - Green Skin Chaer Phoy 400g

This thick, cookie-dough-textured durian has a floral honeyed sweetness grounded by an umami earthiness and tang that makes it one of the more complex and appreciated durians on Penang Island.

Durian Hutan Hybrid (Durio Lowianus x zibethinus) 400g

This semi-wild species of durian grows on the mountain above the  orang asli village. It's a hybrid of Durio lowianus and Durio zibethinus – a bit fleshier than the full wild durian, but still full of the funky flavor that you only get in wild fruits.  It has a very sweet banana flavor with a cashew nuttiness and an earthy metallic tang that is both meaty and bitter at the same time. This one is for the adventurous! It tastes somewhat different from regular durian.

Black Thorn durian

Black Thorn (Penang) 400g

Dense and intense, Black Thorn is now the most expensive durian variety in Malaysia. Its rich, buttery, and smooth with a sweet raspberry taste like berries and cream.

Kun Poh 400g

With its beautiful yellow-orange coloring, Kun Poh lets your eyes feast first before your tastebuds get a hold of the unusual concentrated fruitiness of raisins and cappucino coffee. It's a delicious blend in a very soft, almost sloppy durian. This variety was discovered in 1950's on the farm of Mr. Liew Kun Poh. Check out our YouTube Virtual Farm Tour  to meet the great-grandsons of Mr. Kun Poh.

Bao Sheng 604 Durian 400g

Bao Sheng D15 Durian 400g

D15's hefty pieces are rich and satiating, with very soft melting flesh that has a honeyed but sulfurous flavor that lingers with a classic earthy flavor. Bao Sheng Kun Poh Durian 400g

This orangey-sunset durian has a sloppy, foamy texture with a unique flavor like a raisin coffee-latte – milky, earthy, and fruity. This variety originates on the farm next-door to Bao Sheng Durian Farm, making this hillside the original terroir of this favorite durian of Penangites.  This Kun Poh is from Bao Sheng Durian Farm, a 3rd generation myOrganik-certified farm practicing biodynamics – but if you like to compare terroirs, try our Kun Poh from family farms in other parts of Penang at the same tasting!

Bao Sheng Hor Lor Durian 400g

Cat's Kampung 400g

Milky, sticky & mildly sweet like a cream cheese frosting with just a teeny hint of alcoholic bitter, Cat's Kampung is an old durian tree on her small 3-acre farmstay. These durians came from just 1 tree, as there is only 1 tree producing these fruits in existence. As the durian didn't have a name other than "kampung" we called it "Cat's Kampung." It's nummy 😋

No Name Durian 400g

This is tribute to the incredible genetic diversity of durians and the joy of picking through a pile to select the best – which we've done for you 🙂 Any true durian lover knows that some of the best tasting durians have no names. You may taste an amazing durian once but never be able to find that same durian again – its ghost of epicness haunting your tastebuds. These durian trees usually grow semi-wild in village backyards and owned forested areas. To bring you that experience, we have selected the thickest flesh and best-tasting No Names of the season. Each packet is different, and you may never repeat the same flavors. Let the haunting begin 🙂

Seedless Frozen Pinang Durian Blend 500g

We buy from small farms that don't have large quantities of any one durian variety, which is why we decided to blend several varieties together when making this delicious high-quality, hand-peeled durian seedless pulp that is ready for blending smoothies, ice creams, or frosting piping, or baking into mochis, muffins, cookies, and more!

J33 Nangka Madu Jackfruit 400g

The "honey jackfruit" of Malaysia, this one has a uniquely firm but pliable texture that packs a sugary punch. It's very sweet and has more of a honeyed or syrupy sweetness compared with other jackfruits, which are more juicy and floral but often not as sweet. This is NOT a soft/slippery jackfruit. It's somewhere in between.

Petai Beans (Parkia speciosa) 200g

Petai Beans or  Sataw สะตอ have a black-pepper, garlicky, umami flavor and are popular throughout SE Asia.  Try them stir fried with red curry or spicy sambal, in a coconut milk curry, or grilled in their shells. These bigger-sized beans are sometimes called "Paddy Petai" because they are larger in size.

Tempoyak & Sambal Bundle (Vegan)

By popular request from our durian tour groups – now you can taste tempoyak and sambal at home! Tempoyak is lightly fermented durian which has a sweet cheesy and umami creaminess. It is delicious eaten together with sambal, a mildly spicy, aromatic chili paste made for us by Titi Eco Farm. We love to add these as condiments to wraps, as a flavorful dip for cucumbers or lettuce, or eaten on top of rice or other savory foods.

Ingredients
Tempoyak: Durian & Salt
Sambal: Tomato, coconut oil, red chili, ginger, lemongrass, bird-eye chili, salt, brown sugar

Durian Cake 200g (Melaka Sugar)

We used a Malaysian specialty sugar called "Gula Melaka" or Malacca Sugar for this delicious durian cake. This sugar starts as the liquid sap of the Nipa Palm, an estuary plant, and then gets boiled down to an earthy, rich, slightly salty caramel brown syrup. Stirred into durian pulp in a stainless steel wok over fire until it has the thick bouncy texture of fudge, the Gula Melaka adds extra dark complexity to the concentrated durian flavor. Selecting this option will get you 2 durian cakes to enjoy.

In stock

Durian Cake 200g (Classic Coconut Sugar)

This fudgy durian cake has only two ingredients – durian and organic coconut sugar!  The coconut sugar is mild and really lets the concentrated durian flavors shine through, resulting in a rich, super durian-y power bite that satisfies.  Selecting this option will get you 2 durian cakes to enjoy.

In stock

Durian Cake Bundle (Classic & Melaka Sugar)

Try both recipes! Each cake has only 2 ingredients – durian and palm sugar – hand-stirred to a fudge-y marshmallowy perfection for a craving-kicking durian nibble. The type of sugar changes the flavor slightly, the Melaka Nipa Palm Sugar lending a salty rich sweetness that adds complexity while the coconut sugar has a lighter taste that lets the durian really shine. Try them both side by side to see which sugar you think best compliments the durian – and then don't forget to tell us!

Nutmeg Syrup (Vegan) 400ml

The best palette cleanser is a glass of Nutmeg Juice – its sweet, herbal flavor wildly reminiscent of Coca-Cola (the original recipe for Coke actually contains nutmeg!)  You'll find this syrup blended into drinks everywhere in Penang Island – from old-school kopitiams to snazzy matcha cafes, and on the durian farms themselves since most families have nutmeg trees. The syrup is made from the Nutmeg fruit – not the seed – which is boiled with rock sugar and stored in glass bottles. To serve, mix the syrup with plain cold water or carbonated water for your own Kampung Coke!

Cempejack Butter

This thick fruit-pulp spread is made with just 2 ingredients! We cooked down the Cempejack pulp until it formed a creamy, spreadable texture similar to a pumpkin or apple butter, then lightly sweetened it with local Tualang honey from a wild jungle bee species called Apis dorsata. This honey has a different flavor than the honey from domesticated bees. Together the Cempejack butter has an aromatic caramelly-jackfruity-lemony flavor and is delicious on top of pancakes, toast, an ice cream sandwich, or a spoon!

I absolutely love these Durians. I live in Iceland, so I’m always super amazed that it can travel all this way and still arrive perfectly frozen. The quality is honestly incredible. I am a very fussy picky eater – so I have VERY high standards and this meets my needs every time!

Every bite of the fruit is delicious. The durians are creamy, rich, sweet, and full of flavor, and I haven’t had a single piece that wasn’t amazing. It tastes so fresh and high quality, which is not something I take for granted with frozen fruit shipped internationally.

This has become my favorite treat, and I’m genuinely impressed by how well it arrives every time. If you love Durian, I highly recommend this. The quality is outstanding, and every bite feels like a little luxury.

    2. Levi (verified owner) – April 21, 2026

Yep so immediately thawed a pack of D24 XO the moment the box arrived and was extremely pleased, just like in utter heaven and have been converted from a longtime lurker to a repeat order-er. Very grateful for a taste of your adventures o purveyors of excellent durian!

    3. Kevin Sadri – March 20, 2026

Incredible durian. I thought the frozen Monthong at the local Asian grocery store was good. So I ordered from year of the durian and their durian is on another level. So much flavor. Incredible quality. I’m glad I’m able to experience amazing durian without having to fly across the world

    4. Craig Ranucci (verified owner) – March 13, 2026

Everything was amazing! My durians arrived right on time and in perfect condition. The quality of the durian themselves was spectacular. They were all so incredibly tasting. One thing I was very impressed with was how spot on the flavor descriptions on the packaging was. I will definitely be ordering again!

    5. Robert Perez (verified owner) – January 25, 2026

Always money well spent! I order maybe twice a year as a special treat to myself and am always happy. Every time I normally get some sort of bulk puree for classic Durian taste and then try maybe 2-3 varieties I haven’t yet depending whats available. Lindsay and Richard are really doing an excellent service for us Durian enthusiasts who don’t live in Southeast Asia! The last two special varieties I got were the Limbang Red and Limbang orange. Both had notes of Dr Pepper soda and rich Cherry cheesecake. Amazing stuff!

    6. Bogdan (verified owner) – January 14, 2026

      Great quality, great service.Thank you

    7. Doug (verified owner) – December 9, 2025

Soooooooooooooooooooooo good! Everything arrived in great condition with ice still completely frozen. The durian is fantastic, as always.

    8. Levi A. – December 9, 2025

Finally ordered from y’all after being a longtime peruser and giving up on Hmart durian and WOW. I am so happy with all of this fabulous fruit that is in my freezer (and yes, immediately got a packet defrosting- so far have cracked into D11 and D24- basic/classics for good reason). Shipping was a breeze, and everything arrived still frozen solid. Thank you, Lindsay!

    9. Roland (verified owner) – November 28, 2025

I bought Monthong durian from a local store out where I live and wasn’t impressed. But a few people I know were telling me about Year Of The Durian so I decided to give durian another chance. OMG I’m so glad I did. Even though the durian is frozen the flavor is so so fresh. Durian is now my favorite fruit. There’s such a complexity to the flavors and the textures of some are different. I’ll definitely order more in the near future.

    10. Helmut Kroner – October 29, 2025

      I love DURIAN

    11. Julia Braut (verified owner) – October 12, 2025

Don’t believe anyone who says you can’t buy happiness! Thanks to Lindsay and Richard, with just a few clicks you can have the best durian delivered right to your door!
I was skeptical about frozen durian — I’d eaten fresh ones before and thought, how could it possibly compare? But their frozen durian is actually better than many fresh ones I’ve tried! It’s heaven in your mouth.
Want to celebrate something or treat yourself to something delicious? Get yourself a durian.
Feeling down or had a bad day? Get yourself a durian.
Feeling lost and don’t know what to do with your life? Well, don’t be silly — get yourself a durian! 😋

So grateful I found you guys — thank you so much! 🙏🏻🤗

    12. Aleksandra (verified owner) – September 2, 2025

I am so thrilled to have discovered Year of the Durian! I have ordered a couple of times already, and have enjoyed every durian flavor I have ever tried; my current favorite though is the Bao Sheng blend- I can just eat it out the bag with a spoon, like the yummiest custard imaginable (and I often do!) The quality of every single durian variety I’ve tried is in a class of its own; since I cannot yet make the durian trips to SE Asea, I am so grateful to Year of the Durian for bringing all of this delectable yumminess to us! Also, their customer service is perfection-Lindsay has been such a sweetheart, so helpful and prompt with replying to my questions. 10/10 all-around from a happy customer, who will be back to order again and again!

    13. Runce – July 8, 2025

The absolute best of the best! Hosted a big tasting to blow the minds of all my non-fruit friends, even the pickiest among them were at least intrigued, but most fell in love immediately! Perfect quality.. the only durian i’m willing to eat in the USA!

    14. George Lockwood (verified owner) – April 13, 2025

I just received my first box and it arrived beautifully packaged and in perfect condition. I can’t wait to give it my first taste test at my son’s birthday this coming weekend whom I hope to convert to a durian devotee like me and my younger son. My younger son and I had our first durian a few months ago when I visited him and I insisted on our purchasing a whole frozen durian at a local H Mart. He and his wife were a bit apprehensive about it. Once we thawed it for a day in the fridge, opened it up and had our first taste, it was amazing! Something like a rich creme brûlée only more complex in flavor and much healthier. While this was a wonderful introduction, we realized we were limited to the monthongs that H Mart carried and began searching for other options and soon discovered Year of the Durian. We feel so lucky to now have access to the world’s finest Durian! I am looking forward to the tasting adventure that awaits my first box and to introducing more of my friends to the delights of durian. I have held regular wine tastings which my friends have really enjoyed and am looking forward to adding durian tastings to the line up!

    15. Kenneth Tong – March 12, 2025

When you even pull the indentation to open the bag, you get a wonderful smell of the durian that is so satisfying. D78 has that light alcohol taste mixed with good dark chocolate that has a jasmine taste (but since the flesh is dense and creamy, could taste like white chocolate) which makes it overall taste sweeter rather than the durian bitterness.

I can see why it is possible to consider it taste like Tekka D160 but Tekka has that depth of flavor especially that bitterness that I love which is not as evident in D78 since it tasted on the sweeter side to me. But it was a delicious durian and satisfied my craving that I had.

    16. Vera Kimmi (verified owner) – February 15, 2025

      5 stars!
I have a store that carries fresh durian when in season. Which is great. The downside – it’s only one variety, monthong, and if you are not a fresh durian expert, you don’t even know if what you just bought tastes good or ripe enough.
I was oh so excited to see all the variety of durians from all over the world available in tasting portion with great tasting notes. There is always more to try for adventurous durian lover, I never tire of new varieties.
I also love all the other fruit offerings – many I never tried before and some – like dragon fruit – tried fresh and completely hooked on the year of the durian frozen dragon fruit that like no other dragon fruit I ever tasted before.

    17. Abayomi – February 10, 2025

We immersed in our durian box and emerged with joy and satisfaction. Lindsay isn’t selling durian. She’s selling her brain circuits, calibrated over more than a decade, for choosing a ripe durian. Combine this with sources she’s gathered across the period and SE Asia’s finest varieties and you have a winner. We enjoyed D15, Kapri, Red Prawn and Black Thorn especially. I’ve been twice to Penang and have to admit, the shipped quality is pretty close to what you experience with a fresh fruit. For the durian connoisseur, this is as close to a visit as you can get, from the comfort of your home.

    18. Christine Ma (verified owner) – February 7, 2025

Just finished another box of durians as part of our lunar new year celebration!
Truth be told, the durians offered here are so yummy with each variety having its own unique taste and texture, we didn’t need to have an excuse or special occasion to order and enjoy them. While the prices here are higher than those we can get at Costco or some local Asian grocery stores, yours are superior in quality to that of any we get locally in Southern California. We have ordered so many boxes over the last 5 years and the quality has been consistently good unlike the local ones. Thank you Lindsay and Richard for providing us the opportunity to access these delicious durians.

    19. Eugene (verified owner) – February 4, 2025

I have been eating durians throughout my childhood but it has been interesting (and enjoyable!) to taste through a range of clearly identified varieties. For those looking to choose one (or two) and new to durians, here are some of my tasting notes for what it is worth. The taste can vary slightly between seeds even in the same pack (or whole fruit), which when they are all properly ripe, is one of the aspects of interest in durians as a fruit.
      (1) D28 – Medium sweet, quite mild but has true durian flavour. Not very persistent flavour in the mouth whereas, for eg., D15 is very long. There is faint alcohol, and a faint bitterness in different parts of the flesh when it warms up.
      (2) Kachang Hijau – This is VERY mild for a durian and probably good as a starter for durian appreciation. I am not sure I detect the reputed herbal aromas but yes, the vanilla ice cream is there and I can imagine the brewed tea with sweetened condensed milk.
      (3) D15 – This is very good, a complete rounded taste of all the characteristic components of durian (caution: but strong) with a good persistence in the mouth.
      (4) D78 – Pale greyish yellow flesh. Medium strength aroma with a hint of menthol. Medium sweetness with a strongly BITTER-sweet taste and slightly alcoholic. It should be noted that the bitterness is not of an astringent mouth puckering bitterness but more of an aromatic taste between dried orange peel and dried angelica root as used in chinese cooking and medicinal brews. There is in fact a specific word in chinese (and not found in English) for this taste. Very long and persistent. One for connoisseurs.
      (5) ‘Hutan’ (Lowianus x Zib.) – Not much ‘durian’ aroma. Taste is very mild with more of a single flavour fruit rather than the complex depth of the more commonly cultivated varieties. There is possibly some slightly flour-y banana but much more a green-y herb taste reminiscent of the taste from Pinot Grigio wine or a dry Furmint. Just gentle sweetness and bitterness on the finish but not in an unpleasant way. Interesting.
      (6) Green skin Chaer Phoy – Mid-yellow. Fairly strong ‘durian’ aroma. Firm-ish flesh and quite sweet. Honey, custard and fine Cognac with a hint of bitterness. A good all-round mainstream durian taste. Medium to good persistence.
I hope someone will find these notes useful. Happy tasting… And close your eyes for more flavour!

    20. Melanie S. (verified owner) – January 20, 2025

I hadn’t had any durian for about a year and was getting cravings, I ordered a box of about 6 varieties and ate them all in less than 2 weeks, so now I’ve ordered a bulk box. All the varieties have been so yummy, you really can’t go wrong.

    21. Hannah (verified owner) – December 12, 2024

I’ve ordered so many times I can’t remember if I’ve written a review! But just in case…

This is the best and most cost effective way to get a great variety of durians to the US with basically no drop in quality. Of course nothing beats cracking open a durian that just fell from a tree in Malaysia, but this is the next best realistic option. It runs circles around any frozen durian available in Asian grocery stores, and of course offers infinitely more varieties than the standard Monthong and Musang King. My enduring favorite is Red Prawn, but also love experimenting with the almond buttery and brightly colored Borneo durians, and the herbal/bitter flavors of Kacang Hijau, Green Skin, or the various hybrids that become available every so often.

Shipping usually goes as planned, or at max a day late but still frozen. I’ve only had an issue once (during the depths of a Los Angeles summer) that was promptly resolved by Lindsay.

My friends think I’m crazy for spending hundreds of dollars on durian but it is so worth it! (And a few of them have been converted to seeing it my way after a taste of these durians!)

    22. Bob Mitchell (verified owner) – November 15, 2024

Have ordered many times from these folks the past few years. Consistently high quality and wonderful customer service. I’m very grateful and will continue to support them. Thank you Lindsay, Richard, and team!

    23. Thomas P (verified owner) – November 10, 2024

Always a happy day when I see my package has arrived. I try to save the best for last, and pace myself with each pouch. Amazing quality, better than any frozen durian I have bought locally in the Bay Area or “fresh durian” brought into some markets in SF or other cities.

I really appreciate the work you have done to bring quality durian to America. Red Prawn gang for life 🤯

    24. Eric Bowman (verified owner) – October 26, 2024

Lindsay was very prompt in answering all our questions. The Black Thorn was hands-down our favorite durian!

    25. Christine Ma (verified owner) – October 22, 2024

We were lucky to have found Lindsay’s Year of the Durian website several years ago before COVID. Having grown up in Southeast Asia the first decade of my life, I truly missed the durians I took for granted. To date, we had taken 2 durian tours and purchased several mail order durians. Lindsay and Richard have opened up the deliciously eclectic world of durians to us as opposed to my childhood memory of simply good vs bad durians. Our most recent shipment was wonderful as usual. We couldn’t decide between green skin and black thorn so they are tied for the #1 spot for us. We also liked the red prawn, lobster and D14. We want to thank Lindsay and Richard for the opportunities to taste this wide range of durians with all their unique tastes and characteristics. You have definitely outdone yourself this year with this robust inventory of durians. Thank you!!!

      • Lindsay Admin – October 28, 2024

Thank you Christine! We are so glad you came to see us on Durian Tour in Penang years ago and we love shipping these durians to you at your home 🙂 Thanks for taking the time to leave a review!

    26. Lindsay Admin – October 13, 2024

      Hello,
The minimum order size is 6 packets, you may mix and match whatever types of durians you like to reach 6 total 🙂

    27. Cleo (verified owner) – October 13, 2024

I discovered Year of the Durian after many stressful months of trying to source Durian locally in the city. I couldn’t believe my luck to have this reliable online source that delivers!!!! I grew up in SEA so I know Durian . My father used to freeze boxes so he could eat it all year. I love how many unique varieties there are and the description is Amazing and soooooo helpful when trying to decide which one to choose . I’m on my second order and am so excited to try Black Thorn , kampung, Green skin and a few bitter varieties. Thank you for bringing Penang Durians to our homes. I’m eternally grateful 🫶 One day there will be a durian emoji !

      • Lindsay Admin – October 13, 2024

        Hi Cleo,
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review! We really appreciate hearing that you enjoyed these durians! We are waiting for that durian emoji too 🙂 🙂

    28. Paul K.H. Ong – October 7, 2024

Some unknown durians for me to try. First time to order from your website.

    29. Xin Li (verified owner) – September 6, 2024

The best durian I have ever eaten hands down! I was in China this summer and tried durian for the first time there, and had my fair share of thai and malaysian durian there. NOTHING could even compare to what I got here from Lindsay and Richard! I got the musang king, isu yellow, isu orange, limbang orange and limbang red. So far I have only finished one bag of limbang orange and the complexity of the flavor blew me away. It’s like nothing I have ever tasted before. I cannot wait to try the others and can’t wait to see what other varieties will be avaible on here later on. LOVEEEE (also really really fascinated by the durian tours, if the stars align I really wanna join one someday!)

    30. Ryan Disano (verified owner) – May 13, 2024

Nice durians, I prefer the sweet ones with the larger fruit to seed ratio. I can’t wait for them to stock the Davao variety. I’ve tried those fresh on many occasions, smelly but delicious.

    31. Evan Palahicky (verified owner) – February 16, 2024

These durians and fruits are top tier, hands down some of the best I have ever tried! Real,Wild, Jungle Superfoods:)
A big thank you to Lindsay and Richard for all your efforts to make this happen!
I live in northern Canada and the durians always make it to me on time and still frozen:)

    32. Tho Dinh (verified owner) – February 6, 2024

What I ordered from Lindsay and Richard is amazing. The orders of durians I ordered from them came with a good shape. Their tastes are very good. Lindsay also tried to contact me in advance to make sure I will get the best of their products in terms of delays. They have the best communication and service. Really recommend to everyone who is durian lovers.

Mahalo from Hawaii! We are so pleased to enjoy your big box of durian! We are out of season here & we were craving durian! We live remote with no address so we shipped to UPS direct to pick up. Everyone’s eyes lit up seeing the beautiful durian packaged box so everyone knows you ordered durian! The package was still ice cold even with a slightly longer travel time to Hawaii.
Appreciate you being in business & spreading the durian love around the world!!

We order nearly every week! Lindsay and Richard have super high quality products that always leave us wanting more. Our all time favorites are the J33 Jackfruit, Musang King, Tekka, and D24! Infinite gratitude 💚

My second order from Year Of The Durian was received recently. I bought some discounted Puyat and Duyaya. Both were excellent and tasted better than a frozen whole durian commonly found in the US. Was my first time trying Duyaya and have to say based on the one I got it has to be a new favorite. The flavors were very rich and creamy and the raspberry notes were well noticed. The Puyat was excellent too of course, and very pungent. Had a sharp musky nuttiness that made it stand out over some of the sweeter varieties ive had. Cannot wait to order more eventually! (And both went quite well with chocolate).

Thank you for the review Rob! So glad to you enjoyed the discount Puyat & Duyaya!

I’m so grateful. Thank you for making this pleasure easily accessible and affordable. Thanks for following your bliss! Nature’s happy medicine is durian. Back for my second order to make sure my freezer stays stocked 🙂 so incredibly grateful.

Love this custom option so much. I can pick from all over southeast Asia (or grab six packs of my favorite haha)

The durian quality is top notch and very consistent. Sometimes I even have to pinch myself.

The box is well sealed and always comes frozen (even on the rare time UPS delayed my delivery).

Thank you guys so much for the work that you do. I would have never found this hidden gem if it weren’t for yall.

    41. Elly – February 23, 2023

This is my 2nd order. All of them are well packaged, no damage, ice still frozen. I have not tried all of them yet. I have tried Puyat, Kapri, Kun Poh Ang Bak, Sempe. I like both Puyat and Kapri. I probably won’t order Sempe again. Yearofthedurian is my place to go. I am still exploring ideas to cook cempedak.

    42. James (verified owner) – January 28, 2023

Received the beautiful box of durian and cempedak on Wednesday. Everything was wonderfully packed and ice cold. So far I’ve had the Black Thorn, Red Prawn, and Cempedak King. Black Thorn (so far) has become my favorite durian of all time. It just hits all the right notes for me. Red Prawn has such a wonderfully smooth texture and is a joy to eat with some tea. My fiancée and I were in Malaysia for two weeks recently and at every fruit stall we asked, “Do you have any cempedak?” to which the reply was uniformly, “No, sorry, not in season.” We did manage to find one person selling cempedak goreng in Penang, which we gladly gobbled up, but did not have any fresh arils. I am very happy to be able to snack on cempedak all the way here in the US! The durian and cempedak are amazing quality (FAR superior to any of the durian I get in the grocery stores here) and I love the stories of the farmers and the tasting notes and descriptions of each durian and cempedak/jackfruit. I am ecstatic a business like this exists so we can enjoy the best durian on the other side of the world.

Ive been a durian enthusiast since I was a kid so I think I have a good opinion on whats good and whats bad. I ordered (5) different varieties: Black Thorn, Durian Sempe, Green Skin, Kun Poh and the seedless Puyat pulp to make sure I had a bunch. Each one was a unique flavor experience and a star in its own right. I would 100% order each one again! My favorite was probably the Black Thorn (definitely worth every penny) because of its sweet raspberry notes, but the deep nutty creaminess of Green skin will never be forgotten. The ‘Heirloom’ Durian Sempe was extraordinary, id like to have an endless pile of those as the flavor was just so individual it would be wrong to compare it with other Durian, it taste like Durian, but is honestly its own amazing thing. Try it!! The Kun Poh reminded me of a cross between Musang King and Monthong -the perfect middle ground Durian. The Puyat pulp is a little milder in scent than the others but is another great middle ground example of flavor. I enjoyed it a lot in a bowl and a dusting of cinnamon as a side to black coffee. I bet it is great in smoothies. It was so wonderful to order these special Durians and a very welcoming change from the classic frozen Durian I get when I can locally. Thank you for offering these!

We’ve ordered durian 5 or 6 times, and it’s always been GREAT! The packages arrive on time, with interesting info about the farmers, and always with the highest quality durian.

    45. Ben – January 12, 2023

Probably the best frozen musang king I’ve had. Very rich tasting with a thick creamy texture. Only place I know of that sells other species of durio. D24 was also really good, stronger tasting than other frozen d24 I tried before. I will likely be ordering again soon. Thanks, Lindsay and Richard

    47. Rick M (verified owner) – January 8, 2023

The only issue I’m having is that I didn’t order enough durian…I’m almost out already! The quality of the durian, and other fruits, is incredible. The variety to choose from is amazing. Up until ordering from this website I only had tried one type of durian in the states, and it was okay at best…now I fully understand why people become obsessed with this fruit! Blown away by everything from the flavors to the quality after being shipped over seas. Thank you so much Lindsey and Richard!! I’m officially you’re newest regular customer! Can’t wait to try ALL of the durian you have to offer! 🙂

    48. Monica – December 9, 2022

I am a durian convert because of the Year of the Durian team. Each box has been so carefully curated and the durian harvested at peak ripeness. They arrive frozen and in perfect condition. I enjoy reading about the farmers and the tasting notes are very helpful as well. I’ve also tried snakefruit, lanzones, cempedak king, and lakatan bananas for the first time ever. It’s been an amazing experience to enjoy such special flavors from the comforts of home. I’m not able to travel right now but my tastebuds can! Thank you, Lindsay and Richard!

    49. Katherine – November 19, 2022

We have ordered Davao Durian and Penang Durian. Both were an absolute amazing experience and we are ordering more for Thanksgiving! We appreciate Year Of The Durian Team!

The best quality durian every time I order!

    54. Richard – April 2, 2022

Thanks so much for sharing your adventures and delicious tropical fruits! I ordered a six package box of five different durian packs. They were shipped Monday and I received the durian on Wednesday! It came in a beautifully designed and decorated box, packed in a special biodegradable insulation! It was still frozen when I got it! The durian was delicious. All five varieties were unique and all had special flavors. I chose mostly sweet ones. Lindsay helped me choose some that I might like. What else was great was the information they provided. There’s labels on each packet of durian, a card teaching you about each type of durian, a brochure, and QR codes to scan on the box that leads you to videos of farms and farmer sharing about their prized durian. There’s also an app to help you find durian farms and such. It’s a great treat where you can learn a lot. Lindsay knows so much about Durian it’s amazing! Thanks again!❤️

This durian is wow! Just wow! I am at loss with words. It’s delicious beyond words with perfect texture and so satisfying. Just perfect!
Now try to decide which one you like more! If I had to choose I’d say Nuantongchan but switching between the Nuantongchan and Chanee is even more amazing. Wow every time.
Boxes arrived on time, perfect temperature, still cold but not frozen. Well packaged, so no outside odor. Canada also charges 43 dollars import fee but who cares! This durian experience worth every penny. I am thinking of ordering more!

    56. Stephanie (verified owner) – August 4, 2020
