Where is the Festival?

The Bao Sheng Durian Festival takes place on the island of Penang, Malaysia. Our venue (where we sleep and eat) is the Bao Sheng Durian Farm, a fourth generation organic durian orchard.

How do I get to the Durian Festival?
Since the durian farm is a little bit far from the city and airport, on the first and last day of the festival we will send scheduled shuttles to both the Penang International Airport and Georgetown. The times of the shuttle are determined once we know when the majority of people are arriving, in order to make it most convenient for everyone.

If, for some reason, you need private transportation to the venue we can arrange a taxi for you for an additional fee (paid directly to the driver).

What is included in the price of the festival?

Once you take a seat in the shuttle, almost all of your needs are taken care of. The festival price includes 7 nights of accommodation, all-you-can-eat durian and other fruit, prepared vegan dinners and salad bar (with yummy dressings), cooking classes, group exercise and other activities, and a whole lot more.

What is not included: Some activities outside the farm, any food or snacks you want to buy outside the farm, souvenirs.

Wifi
We will be providing a 3G Wifi hotspot through our cell provider. However, because there are restrictions in Malaysia on how much bandwidth you can buy, we will ask everyone to please be conscious about their internet usage.

You can help by changing the quality of videos you watch to 360 or lower, not streaming or downloading large files, and purchasing your own high speed internet to upload Youtube vlogs. We will have personal hotspots available for purchase onsite for use with an unlocked phone.

About Accommodations

There are three types of accommodations:

Tatami: These simple Japanese-style rooms have wood floors, a raised sleeping platform, folding glass wall dividers with heavy curtain, and air-conditioning. Each holds two attendees. The upstairs and downstairs each have two shared showers and two shared toilets. If you would like to room with your friends please let us know in advance who is in your group.

There are also three private dwellings with an attached bathroom available. To upgrade to a private dwelling with attached bathroom, please contact Grant or Lindsay.

Refund Policy
If for some reason you can’t make it, we are happy for you to give or sell your ticket to a friend. Just let us know in advance. Sometimes we have a waiting list and can help connect you with someone who wants to buy your tickets.

As far as refunds, we offer 50% refund up until 60 days before the event, and 25% up until 30 days before the event. No money is returned if less than 30 days before the festival begins.
