While another month has passed, I wonder how many durians have fallen? Not too many I would guess. October is one of the quietest months of durian season, with seasons winding down in some places and just beginning in others. Nevertheless, there’s always some durian excitement somewhere. Bomb scares, new durian inventions, and a new interview with us is plenty to fill up October.
Durian Bomb Scare
I’ve heard of people having explosive reactions to durian, but a durian explosive is a first. In North Cotabato, Philippines, near was averted when civilians spied wires protruding from under two durian fruits sitting a motorcyclist was placing on the ground near a large hotel. The motorcyclist claimed he was transporting a woman who accidentally left him with the durians, and not knowing what to do with them decided to just ditch them. Sounds like a fish story to me. Who doesn’t know what to do with two ripe, apparently abandoned durians?
