Somewhere in the jungles of Borneo, this handsome little durian is just beginning to drop. Dalit is the local name for a specific type of Durio graveolens, the famous lipstick red durian, but this orange variety may actually be its own species. The smooth orange flesh has a consistency similar to thick cream cheese, so sticky it’s hard to swallow, with deep undertones of chocolate and caramel. For more about our adventures with Dalit, read the following articles.

By all means, not a problem at all. Was surprised there were a few neighbors who actually enjoyed the smell…will take them some fruit today.

Have loved durian from the first time I tasted it about 10 years ago (when I was about 20). I believe there is a gene that allows some people to enjoy it but repulses other people. I introduced my parents to durian a few weeks ago. My dad was totally okay with it and actually liked it. My mom was completely repulsed by it (immediately), as was my sister a few years ago.
Just found your site a couple of days ago, loving the great content here! Nicely done.
Today is halloween, here is my "Jack O'Lantern Gets attached by a Durian" pumpkin. I want to see how many kids in the neighborhood may actually be okay with the smell.
Not sure you can see the photo, I hope you can (it's on Facebook), here it is: https://scontent-b-sea.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn2/971524_10200216746541258_839703578_n.jpg
Happy Halloween.

It's a wonderful fruit, very sticky on the teeth. And very hard to find, at least in Kuching.
