There are many durians with beautiful coloring, but it’s hard to beat this hybrid of two durio species. Suluk is a natural crossing between Durio zibethinus, the more common durian, and Durio graveolens. It has a dense, super creamy texture that combines the sweetness and familiar flavor of durian with hints of a deep, chocolatey bitterness. Delicious.
Although relatively uncommon, interspecific hybrids do happen. They are generally found in Western Malaysia on the island of Borneo. Some hybrids produce fruit considered of “superior quality” and are given names, like Suluk. There are other crosses of Durio graveolens and Durio zibethinus, that produce a completely different fruit with individual colors and flavors. This particular fruit was actually grown in Puerto Rico.

I appreciate you taking the time and energy to put this article together.
I once again find myself spending a significant amount of time both reading and commenting.
