Durian is highly esteemed among raw foodists, many of whom are the most
avid durian addicts I have ever met. But at 30% fat content, durian is
considered by many raw foodists to be too high for regular
consumption. I caught up with Freelee at the Woodstock Fruit Festival to ask where durian fits in to a low fat, raw vegan diet.
Freelee is one of the most prominent promoters of a raw food lifestyle. Her youtube channel, Freelee the Banana Girl, has 68,000 subscribers and nearly 10 million views. She recommends a diet in which less than 10% of calories are derived from fat sources, with the majority of calories coming from carbohydrates. Yet she absolutely loves durian.
Here are her recommendations and thoughts for raw foodists who love durian and would like to healthfully include it in their diet.
